Welcome to the second issue of Pimatziwin — the last issue to be exclusively published by the Alberta ACADRE Network. Native Counselling Services of Alberta and Bear Paw Media have agreed to be our community publishing partner in the coming year. Patti LaBoucane-Benson, Director of Bear Paw Media, is the guest editor for our third issue on health research ethics, and will likely become General Editor sometime next year due to new demands on my time as Science Director of the Canadian Circumpolar Institute. Our first issue was successful in many ways. The articles, selected to provide guidance, instruction, and inspiration to people involved in indigenous health research, have been used as a textbook and as a training resource. The blend of community and academic peer reviews enhanced the content of Pimatziwin. The diversity of article formats and topics promote an arena of understanding that is accessible to all.

You will notice some changes in this issue. We have a new logo, designed for us by Derek Fisher and commissioned by Native Counselling Services of Alberta. He has used the concept of the circle and the image of the world we hope to reach with the elements and colours of the sky, the earth, and the sun. In addition, the logo reminds us that all of these elements interact with the world of spirits who are shown coming from outside our world into it. These are elements all people interact with — they represent the holistic healing of us all.

We have had some changes on our Editorial Board. Tarun Weeramanthri, Community Physician at the Centre for Disease Control, Northern Territory, Australia, has been promoted to Chief Health Officer With this new position comes new time and energy demands and Taron has therefore resigned his place on the Editorial Board. In his place, we welcome Geoffrey Angeles, Indigenous Research Officer at the Menzies School of Health Research in Australia. Geoffrey has already contributed substantially to the review process for the first issue and we are delighted that he is joining our Board.
